Program

Our dynamic one-day program is designed to maximize collaboration and insightful discussions among all participants. We’ve structured the day to accommodate a variety of submissions and activities, all focused on advancing the field of HCI in game development.

Please note: This schedule is a guide. WIPlay reserves the right to make minor adjustments based on the final number of accepted papers and Game Lab sessions to ensure the best possible experience for everyone. Time allocations may be altered to maximize the impact of discussions and activities. Details on specific Game Lab session timings will be released following the selection process.

IV WIPlay Agenda:

  • 9:00 – 9:30 AM: Welcome and Introduction (30 minutes)
    • Opening remarks from the organizing committee, outlining the workshop’s objectives and schedule.
    • Brief introductions from all participants to foster a collaborative environment.
  • 9:30 – 11:00 AM: Research and Position Paper Presentations (90 minutes)
    • Short, focused presentations of accepted research papers and “Game Stances” (position papers), grouped by relevant themes. Each presentation will be followed by a brief Q&A. Please note: Presentation timings may be adjusted based on the final number of accepted submissions.
  • 11:00 – 11:30 AM: Break (30 minutes)
  • 11:30 AM – 1:00 PM: World Cafe Style Discussions (90 minutes)
    • Interactive discussions centered around 3-4 key themes emerging from the workshop submissions. Participants will rotate through small groups, each facilitated to encourage diverse viewpoints and cross-cultural dialogue. Key discussion points will be collected to inform the collaborative agenda setting session. The number of themes and rotation times may be adjusted based on accepted submissions.
  • 1:00 – 2:00 PM: Lunch Break (60 minutes)
  • 2:00 – 3:30 PM: Game Lab Interactive Mini-Sessions (90 minutes)
    • A dynamic series of parallel mini-sessions, offering opportunities for co-design and gameplay evaluation. Participants can choose sessions based on their interests. Specific session timings and the schedule of parallel sessions will be finalized after the selection process.
  • 3:30 – 4:00 PM: Break (30 minutes)
  • 4:00 – 5:00 PM: Collaborative Agenda Setting (60 minutes)
    • Participants will work together to synthesize key findings from the day’s presentations, discussions, and practical sessions. A structured discussion format will be used to identify research priorities, formulate recommendations, and develop a collaborative research agenda for the future.
  • 5:00 – 5:30 PM: Wrap-Up and Closing (30 minutes)
    • Final remarks from the organizing committee, summarizing the workshop’s key outcomes and highlighting future directions.
